I am an accredited Clinical Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane.

I am committed to creating a relaxed, safe environment, where we’ll work together to achieve your unique goals.

Hi, I’m Sarah

My experience

I received my undergraduate and masters degrees in Counselling at the University of New England and I am currently pursuing a research degree in Trauma Informed Supervision at Queensland University of Technology.

I’ve worked in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 2001 within private, NGO (non-government organisations) and tertiary education sectors, including seven years with a leading Australian Health Retreat. I’m also a sessional lecturer and provide Clinical Supervision for Bachelor and Masters of Counselling and Psychotherapy students with ACAP (Australian College of Applied Psychology).

With over 20 years’ experience, including 10 years as a Relationship Counsellor for Relationships Australia, I have worked with hundreds of couples, including couples from the LGBTIQ+ community. I am an experienced relationship therapist, having worked with a broad range of clients and relationship issues, including infidelity and trust, communication and conflict, transitions, adjustment, and parenting difficulties.

In addition, I am an experienced facilitator of numerous psycho educational support groups and have provided individual therapy to hundreds of clients. I have worked extensively with trauma, loss and grief, workplace and life stress, depression and anxiety, and other mental health issues.

I bring a warm, non-judgemental, trauma informed and compassion-focused approach to my counselling practice. I work collaboratively with all clients to support them to reach their desired outcomes through a range of evidence - based therapeutic approaches.

Why working with me is different

I offer an authentic counselling approach, developed from many years of professional training, working with clients and my own experience of living a rich and sometimes messy human life.

I believe my compassionate approach reflects my genuine understanding of how challenging life can be at times. I understand we all have unique obstacles and therefore different goals and needs. I am fascinated by the complexities and mysteries of being a human being. I was born and raised in the UK, lived in Spain for 3 years and have been in Australia for 25 years. My own life experiences of living in three countries and raising three children, has provided me with insight, humour, resilience, and profound gratitude along the way.

I am committed to providing a high-quality service for my clients. I fulfil all professional development requirements to ensure my practice is current, relevant, and well informed. Each year I continue to attend conferences, workshops and engage in professional development. I have completed countless hours of training in many modalities of counselling and psychotherapy including trauma informed practice, relationship counselling approaches, narrative therapies, somatic interventions and many more.

  • Individual counselling and psychotherapy can be useful at any stage of life and can help address a wide range of issues and experiences that people may be struggling with. Counselling can help you navigate complex difficulties at work or at home or simply increase your understanding of yourself and why you may respond to life's challenges in a particular way.

  • Research on happiness has consistently shown that healthy relationships are at the heart of our mental health and overall wellbeing. I love to work with couples and all types of relationships as the impact of building healthier, happy connections with each other, can have profound and long lasting effects on many.

  • Professional supervision is essential for all therapists in the 'helping professions'. I provide a safe, relational and empowering space for all therapists to reflect and further develop their practice skills and professional selves.

  • Therapists are some of the most hard-working, giving and empathic people I have encountered in life. The retreats I run focus on nourishment, self reflection and deep restorative care for therapists while at the same time offering a space for clinical supervision in which professional challenges can be unpacked and explored.

  • I offer a bespoke consultancy service tailored to the unique needs of your organisation, agency or workplace.

My experience of working across multiple sectors, including private enterprise, not-for-profit, and tertiary education, has provided me with a unique and informed lens to assess the complex needs of your workplace.

I am passionate about working with people and am grateful for and humbled by the work I do. My mission is to meet all clients with openness and genuine care, to help them feel understood and able to deeply explore their challenges and do my absolute best to support them in the way that is most helpful to them.
